A prairie girl through and through, Kate Kading has always been fascinated by the stories that hide in every corner of her unassuming province. She loves travelling the road not taken, exploring ghost towns, and asking questions. Good thing she became a reporter.
Trained in Radio and Television Broadcasting, Kading left the airwaves to be a full time RCMP wife and mother of two wonderful boys. The Kading family takes life as a grand adventure whether they are off to Disney World, climbing the Rocky Mountains, or having a backyard picnic. Kate stays close to the media world writing for national publications, overseas clients, and freelancing as a media liaison.
Is ‘police procedural historical fiction’ a genre? Because that’s what Kate writes, relying on old police reports and living room demonstrations to write her books. Laughter fills the house and something inevitably ends up broken, but her husband loves to help with the writing process (or does he just love mock-arresting the kids?)
Kate collects vintage pens, mugs, and typewriters–the latter two of which drive her husband crazy in their small house. You can find her in the garden in the summer, tucked up in her local small town coffee shop in the winter, click-clacking away on her laptop or with her nose stuck in a dusty book researching her next project. With her corgi curled up on her feet, of course.
